Two glories of the 20th century in sports were Lou Gehrig and Pelé. The first one excelled in baseball, as Brazilian soccer’s glory did in the grass. Of course, they have collected lots of precious objects along their successful careers. And they represented lots of important transactions in auctions.

Pelé knew how to take good care of his fortune, and after turning 80 years old, he’s enjoying his life in Brazil. Despite the huge blow that Diego Maradona’s death meant for him. After being rivals and distanced for a long time, they ended up with a better relationship. Pele reached glory for the first time winning the 1958 World Cup in Sweden being 17 years old.

After winning this World Cup, he lifted the later-disappeared Jules Rimet trophy, but also was awarded a champion’s medal. In 2016 it was sold on auction by Julien’s Auctions. The buyer paid $256,875 for it. The estimation was $96,000 - $191,000.

As reported per TMZ Sports, SCP Auctions company will now put in bid a baseball bat. According to them and the contacted experts, it’s certifiably acquired by Gehrig in September 1938. It is believed it was the last bat he used in 1939, before getting ALS diagnosed, which forced him to retire and killed him in 1941.

It’s yet to certify if the bat was used in the 1938 World Series. According to SCP, they estimate the bat could be sold even in $1 million. Baseball can lead to massive deals, as it happened recently with a Mickey Mantle card sold in $5.2 million.
