After a huge await, finally Concachampions will be coming back. The first matches of the quarter-finals where all played except the clash between LAFC and Cruz Azul, that couldn’t start due to the COVID-19 pandemic. After so much await, the tournament is back with a new format.
The teams who played the first games of the series will now be playing with no exceptions at the U.S. But, as LAFC and Cruz Azul haven’t yet played their first match, they will be playing a unique game, at a neutral stadium that will be on the U.S. Many considered then that the game should be played at Mexico, but the authorities have already decided.
In the start of this instance, America defeated Atlanta United 3-0, NYCFC lost against Tigre 1-0 and Olimpia defeated Montreal Impact 2-1. As it was said, LAFC and Cruz Azul are yet the only two teams that couldn’t play their very first match so far. There will be a stricture protocol and tested players for the games.
From December 15 to December 22 the matches will have place in the territory of the U.S. The objective of the organizers is to copy what UEFA did in Europe with the Champions League after the COVID-19 pandemic, playing all the game remaining in the season at Lisbon, Portugal, in a strike.
