Gerardo Martino has a negative streak in finals, the Argentinean DT has a hard time in decisive matches, losing five of the six he has coached. The Mexican National Team's 1-0 loss to the USMNT in the 2021 Gold Cup Final has provoked reactions from fans who are calling for the departure of 'Tata' Martino.

Who are the candidates to lead the Mexico National Team?

1. Matias Almeyda

Matías Almeyda is a 46-year-old former Argentinean player. In his country he left a good image in River Plate and Banfield. The tough style he showed on the field he knew how to transmit to his players at every opportunity. He currently manages the San Jose Earthquakes in the United States. In Mexico he had a great performance with Chivas de Guadalajara, winning the Copa MX, Liga MX and a Concacaf Champions League.

2. Ricardo "Tuca" Ferretti

Ricardo "Tuca" Ferretti, the Brazilian had a long ten-year tenure as coach of Tigres de la UANL and recently joined FC Juarez. This is the sixth team he has coached in Mexico, so he is considered to have ample experience in Aztec territory.

3. Antonio Mohamed

Antonio Mohamed, the former Argentinean player played for several Mexican teams, including América, Monterrey, Toros Neza and Atlante. He also played in the First Division of the Mexican League from 1993 to 2002 in a total of 293 games, scoring 69 goals. El Turco', as Antonio is known, has a great appreciation for the Aztec territory and he has assured that he would love to lead the Mexican national team.

4. Víctor Manuel Vucetich

Víctor Manuel Vucetich Rojas, a native of Tampico, Tamaulipas, currently manages Club Deportivo Guadalajara of Mexico. The experienced 'King Midas' won 5 Mexican League titles, 3 MX Cups and 3 CONCACAF Champions League, all with Rayados. This harvest of titles in Aztec territory is a great resume to present to the Mexican National Team.

5. Miguel Herrera

Miguel Ernesto Herrera Aguirre, Mexican former soccer player and technical director, currently manages Tigres de la UANL. He played for Santos, Atlante, Querétaro, UAG and Toros Neza. He was runner-up in the 1993 Copa America and coached Atlante, Monterrey, America and Tijuana.
