San Jose Earthquakes played a key game in the last part of the regular season, when facing Seattle Sounders FC on Week 19 this Sunday. After 90 minutes, the match ended in a tie and the visitors maintained the first position in the Western Conference, which they share with Portland Timbers, both with 31 points.

After the game, Argentinian head coach Matías Almeyda talked about the performance of his rival, who he said it was the best team of the league. But the compliments didn't end there for the coach, as he also said to the press that the Uruguayan midfielder Nicolás Lodeiro from Seattle is the best player in the MLS.

Despite he is not the best paid one, Lodeiro has clear conditions that put him as one of the bests in the U.S. The Uruguayan aged 31 alternates a great capacity to attack with a compromise with the time when defending or pressuring. During this season, he played 15 games for his side, scoring five goals and giving five assists as well.

Lodeiro's statistics show that he is a top player. So far in the season, he is the one who was run the most distance per game (7.70 miles). Born at Uruguay, the offensive midfielder arrived to the MLS after Seattle signed him from Boca Juniors for $5 million and, since then, he managed to play 136 games scoring 40 goals and giving 45 assists.
